Exciting Opportunity: National Younger Leadership Groups
We are thrilled to announce that Mary Howard Primary School has been successfully selected to participate in the National Younger Leadership Groups (NYLG) initiative, alongside two other schools from the Lichfield Diocese. This prestigious programme, facilitated by the Archbishops’ Young Leaders Award team, offers our pupils a unique opportunity to develop their leadership skills, grow in their faith, and ensure their voices are heard on key issues that matter to them and their communities.
What is the National Younger Leadership Groups (NYLG)?
The NYLG is part of the Church of England’s vision to ‘grow younger,’ led by Archbishop Stephen Cottrell. This initiative emphasises the importance of engaging with children and young people, making their consultation integral to the church's work. Through this programme, our pupils will have the chance to connect with peers from across the country, share ideas, and learn from one another, fostering a sense of community and collaboration.
Opportunities for Our Pupils
Participating in the NYLG will provide our pupils with the following enriching experiences:
-
Empowerment through Leadership: Pupils will learn to use their voices effectively, engaging with key issues that resonate with them and their communities.
-
National Connections: They will connect with other schools nationwide, discussing and sharing ideas that can lead to impactful change.
-
Strategic Contribution: Our pupils will have the opportunity to help shape the strategic development of the Church of England’s Education Office, ensuring that the perspectives of young people are represented.
-
Local Engagement: Each participant will work closely with a parish partner, allowing them to expand and develop their ideas on a local level, making a tangible difference in their communities.
Programme Details
This academic year, the NYLG team will host five online sessions specifically designed for primary-aged pupils. Each session will explore a significant question, encouraging young people to reflect on how they can use their voices to enable flourishing within their schools, communities, and churches.
We are incredibly proud of our pupils for being selected for this transformative programme. Their participation underscores our commitment to nurturing the next generation of leaders who are passionate about making a positive impact.
Stay tuned for updates as our pupils embark on this exciting journey of leadership, faith, and community engagement!
