After revisiting the rules of punctuating direct speech with accuracy, the children in Oak Class considered what Macbeth, Banquo and The Witches might say to each other in the opening scene of the play, based on what we have read. We orally composed sentences and carefully considered how to convey character through our reporting clauses. The children worked in pairs to punctuate my dictated sentences correctly before constructing their own written versions. Some children even completed the challenge of using our Shakespeare dictionaries to up-level their writing with archaic vocabulary!
