Character Inference
Oak Class had great fun being detectives this lesson! After learning more about who they may encounter in the Land of Oz, the children had to work out which emotion belonged to which character based on the clues in the text!
Making predictions!
Oak Class began the half term by making predictions about their new book! The children were given images of mystery items from the text and had to consider who the items might be used by and what for. The classroom was fizzing with excitement for our new unit!
Evacuation Teddies!
Oak Class concluded their DT learning this half term by stuffing their evacuation teddy bears and finishing their blanket stitches! The children then evaluated their final products - an excellent unit of work that required lots of perseverance. Well done, Oak Class!
Oak Lego Workshop
Oak Class absolutely loved their Lego workshop! We had the challenge of working together to create: a day at the park, a beautiful garden and a dream house! Super teamwork demonstrated - thank you FOMH!
Anne Frank Diaries
In English, Oak Class had the best time publishing their writing. We created our very own diaries, inspired by Anne Frank and wrote up our edited writing from Anne’s perspective! The children included tag questions to convey a tone of uncertainty (of Anne’s move to the secret annexe) along…
WW2 Explorer Day!
Oak Class loved their trip to the National Memorial Arboretum, where they enjoyed participating in a World War Two explorer day! We learned about the life of an evacuee and that of a child who stayed in London during the Blitz. We also explored a ration box and 1940s menu and looked at…
Stuffed Toy Templates
After learning how to sew a blanket stitch, Oak Class selected their felt and cut their teddy templates in preparation for sewing their stuffed toys!
Water Resistance
Oak Class learned about the force, water resistance and tested its effect through a practical investigation. We worked together to explore if the surface area of an object affects the time taken for an object to sink before concluding our findings!
Ball Skills
In PE this week, Oak Class communicated to help their team make effective decisions. The children played the roles of attacker to dribble and pass the ball whilst the defenders tried to kick the ball out of play. Super ball skills today!
Les cheveux et les yeux
In French this week, Oak Class learned how to say and write simple descriptions of hair and eye colour. The children used their learning from last week about how French adjective endings change depending on whether they are describing masculine or feminine nouns. We also enjoyed playing a…
Air Resistance!
In Science, Oak Class planned and carried out a fair test to investigate air resistance and its effects. They carefully considered the variables that needed to be controlled or measured and analysed their results to look for patterns and draw conclusions!
Gravity and Mass
In Science, Oak Class described the force of gravity and its effects. We used data to measure out the diameters of different celestial bodies on the playground before recording the gravity of each planet. We looked for trends in the data, regarded anomalies and concluded that the larger the mass…
