The Life Cycle of a Frog
In Science this week, Class Three continued with their learning about life cycles and reproduction. This week, we learned about amphibians, specifically the life cycle of a frog! The children explored differences amongst the species, including that of a tree frog. We then planned a…
Class Two: Reflective Surfaces
In science, Class Two explored reflective surfaces through a classroom hunt! Through this discovery learning, Class Two identified which properties makes an item reflective and understood how light bounces off them into a new direction. Well Done Class Two!
Measuring plant growth
We looked again at our sweetpeas to check if they were growing shoots and leaves.
In only a few days we spotted some real changes, helped along by the warm weather!
Class Two: ThinkTank!

We had an amazing day out in Birmingham visiting Thinktank. Lots of hands-on and practical activities to try! The science garden was fantastic!
Thinktank!
What a fabulous trip to the Thinktank! Class Three loved the science garden in particular! We enjoyed a forensic heist workshop, which involved taking our own fingerprints and examining different types of evidence (including trace, impression, biological and digital) to solve a crime!
The life cycle of a plant
In science, Class Three started their new unit of learning about life cycles and reproduction. The children worked in groups to order the life cycle of a plant, including the reproductive stage. We then progressed to dissecting flowering plants in order to observe and compare equivalent…
What do plants need to grow?
For our first Science lesson of the term, we explored what plants need to grow. We planted sweetpea seeds but removed water, sunlight and warmth from three of the pots. We will check on their progress and compare to our other seeds as they grow.Reception identified the main parts of a plant and…
Looking after our teeth
Today we had a visit from the school nurse team and Charlie Crocodile! They talked to us about how to look after our teeth and healthy food choices.
What do animals need to survive?
In Science this week we discussed what animals and humans need to survive. We created information posters about Giant Pandas. Reception thought about pets and how they need to be looked after.
Exploring the hardness and uses of materials
Class Three began their unit of learning in Science this week by exploring the hardness and uses of materials. We began by revisiting prior learning and established the difference between an object, a material and a property. The children identified the materials of a range of objects and…
Creating Shadows!
Class Three created shadows in Science this week as part of their learning about light. We explored what a shadow is and how they are formed before describing ways that we can change the shape, clarity and size of a shadow. The children practically investigated what happens to the size of a…
