Bionic Arms!
Willow had a great time creating their own bionic arm in science! They showed lots of love and perseverance to achieve their end result. Well done!
Is it absorbent?
We have been investigating materials in our science lessons. This week, we were given a challenge to help Wise Wizard find a material to clean up some magic potion! We used the pipettes for the first time to make sure we used the same amount of water in our tests. We identified which materials…
Sundials
Oak Class devised their own sundials in Science this week after learning about the ancient method of telling the time before clocks and watches were invented!
Measuring our Bones!
Willow had lots of fun locating, measuring and recording the length of their bones in Science. Using our results, we were able to make comparisons and conclusions, evaluating what we could also do differently to ensure more accurate results.
Moons
In Science this week, Oak Class learned about the movement of the Moon around Earth. The children defined the term, ‘moon’ and named some of the phases of the Moon, which explain how it looks different at different times of the month. We then researched the moons of other planets and, working…
Our five senses: Smell
In Science we investigated our sense of smell. We were given some picture clues but had to guess what was inside each cup!
Water Resistance
Oak Class learned about the force, water resistance and tested its effect through a practical investigation. We worked together to explore if the surface area of an object affects the time taken for an object to sink before concluding our findings!
Contact Forces
Willow have been exploring forces and magnets this week! We looked at the terms force and contact force, classifying a force as a push, pull or twist. We also created and labelled a diagram using arrows and scientific vocabulary!
Our five senses: taste
We had a fantastic Science lesson today investigating our sense of taste. We compared sweet, sour, salty and bitter foods. Marshmallows were our favourite! There were some interesting facial expressions when we tasted lemon!
Air Resistance!
In Science, Oak Class planned and carried out a fair test to investigate air resistance and its effects. They carefully considered the variables that needed to be controlled or measured and analysed their results to look for patterns and draw conclusions!
Gravity and Mass
In Science, Oak Class described the force of gravity and its effects. We used data to measure out the diameters of different celestial bodies on the playground before recording the gravity of each planet. We looked for trends in the data, regarded anomalies and concluded that the larger the mass…
Class Two: Shadows
In science this week Class Two investigated and described shadows based on materials. They were able to write a conclusion using the key vocabulary: opaque, transparent and translucent. Well done Class Two!
