Geography - map symbols
Today we worked outside in the playground. In Geography we have been looking at maps and how symbols help us to find places. We created our own symbols for each area of the playground. Super teamwork!
Year 1 Little Red Riding Hood
We have started off the term looking at Traditional Tales. Year 1 have been working on constructing sentences with capital letters and full stops.
Some fantastic independent work this week!
Reception CVC words
Reception have been busy using their phonics knowledge to segment and blend CVC words with the initial sounds we have explored so far! Fantastic work!
Our five senses: taste
We had a fantastic Science lesson today investigating our sense of taste. We compared sweet, sour, salty and bitter foods. Marshmallows were our favourite! There were some interesting facial expressions when we tasted lemon!
Library Bus
Our first visit of the year to the Library Bus!
We can change our books every two weeks and had great fun choosing today.
Water fun!
We had a wonderful time in our outdoor area exploring some new equipment to make our own water channels. Some fantastic teamwork and lots of sharing ideas to make the water flow the way we wanted it to!
Phonics superstars!
What a great start to phonics!
Reception have been learning s,a,t and p and forming the letters correctly. Year 1 have been revisiting some learning from last year and writing super sentences using all the digraphs and trigraphs they know.
Is it a fruit or vegetable?
Our Design Technology topic this term has a food focus - we will be making some Pumpkin Soup ready for autumnal days!
We have been investigating the difference between fruit and vegetables and sorting them.
Fantastic teamwork!
Rock up and Read
Reading for pleasure and sharing books is such an important part of our learning journey. It was fantastic to have so many parents join us for our first session of Rock up and Read of the year. Thank you!
Getting to know each other
We spent our first three days together getting to know our new friends through play and collaboration! Everyone looks super smart in their uniforms!
Teddy bears picnic
Today we welcomed our new Reception children to a Teddy bears picnic for their final transition session. Class 1 were so kind and helpful! Friends have already been made and we are all looking forward to September!
The Sound Collector poetry
Today a thief came to Mary Howard to steal all our sounds!
We created our own poems using lots of sound descriptions. Next week we will put our ideas together to create and perform a whole class poem!
