Position and direction
Some collaborative learning and problem solving in Maths this week. The children had to program a Robot Mouse to move around a track collecting cheese! They had to use forwards, backwards, left, right and turn functions to work out a route! This helped our position and direction knowledge!
Beach cafe
We are thinking about summer and have set up a beach cafe role play area! We have been using our imaginations to be the chef and customers!
Computing: Scratch Jr
In computing Year 2 revisited how to use Scratch Jr. They added a new sprite, changed the background and created a sequence of commands. Then they worked with the Reception children and showed them how to program. Great teamwork!
Measuring plant growth
We looked again at our sweetpeas to check if they were growing shoots and leaves.
In only a few days we spotted some real changes, helped along by the warm weather!
Thinktank
We had an amazing day out in Birmingham visiting Thinktank. Lots of hands-on and practical activities to try! The science garden was fantastic!
Spirited Arts competition
We used Class 1 Bibles to give us inspiration for our competition entries.
Time
Year 2 have been learning to tell the time to the nearest five minutes!
What do plants need to grow?
For our first Science lesson of the term, we explored what plants need to grow. We planted sweetpea seeds but removed water, sunlight and warmth from three of the pots. We will check on their progress and compare to our other seeds as they grow.Reception identified the main parts of a plant and…
A French Easter
With Madame Stevens we found out about Easter traditions in France. We went on an Easter hunt looking for French vocabulary in the Spring sunshine!
Looking after our teeth
Today we had a visit from the school nurse team and Charlie Crocodile! They talked to us about how to look after our teeth and healthy food choices.
Texture collages
Inspired by the work of artist Romare Bearden we experimented with colour and texture. Then we used the collage pieces to create a picture, cutting and ripping the prints to overlap layers!
Easter gardens
We had a lovely afternoon in the spring sunshine creating some Easter gardens! We collected lots of natural materials and recreated the tomb of Jesus.
