Looking after our teeth
Today we had a visit from the school nurse team and Charlie Crocodile! They talked to us about how to look after our teeth and healthy food choices.
Texture collages
Inspired by the work of artist Romare Bearden we experimented with colour and texture. Then we used the collage pieces to create a picture, cutting and ripping the prints to overlap layers!
Easter gardens
We had a lovely afternoon in the spring sunshine creating some Easter gardens! We collected lots of natural materials and recreated the tomb of Jesus.
Big Cats
In English Year 2 have been writing non-chronological reports about leopards and tigers. There were lots of features to include! Reception created captions about tigers using their amazing phonics skills for spelling! Well done Class 1!
Hot Cross Buns!
In RE this week we looked at the symbolism of hot cross buns and why they are eaten at Easter. We could not resist a taste test too! Delicious!
What do animals need to survive?
In Science this week we discussed what animals and humans need to survive. We created information posters about Giant Pandas. Reception thought about pets and how they need to be looked after.
Team Building
Our PE this term is all about team building! Today we played a variety of games and worked through challenges. We had to solve problems, share ideas, listen to each other and work together!
Creating texture
We have been busy creating texture tiles using paint and a range of materials. Next week we will put them together to create collages.
Pass the parcel
We played pass the parcel with a twist - each layer had a picture from The Easter story and we used them to retell the story in the correct order. This really helped us to make sense of main events and understand why it is so important for Christians.
Features of a non-chronological report
We have been identifying features of non-chronological reports so that we can create our own about lions, tigers and leopards!
World Book Day
We celebrated World Book Day in style with lots of amazing costumes! Parents joined us too for Rock up and Read!
Length and height
Our maths topic this week has been length and height. We have completed lots of practical activities and used vocabulary such as longer, taller and shorter to compare measures. Year 2 completed some accurate measuring with a ruler and estimated length in metres.
